chilly. chilli. chile.

after a very adventurous travel here, we finally arrived safe and sound.

chile is beautiful...deffo hot, and really, really smoggy. so smoggy you can only see the outlines of all the mountains at any given time! yesterday we were able to make it to a couple of local markets before our preproduction meeting. the first (of course i can't remember what it was called...i generally don't retain anything i can't pronounce) was an arts/crafts/jewelry type market. lots of  blankets, socks, pottery and jewlery made of lapis lazuli, a stone only found in chile and afghanistan. the market itself is set up on an old church ground. it's really pretty and very green and lush...i of course had my camera at my eye for most of the visit.

the second was more of a farmer's market...well...farmers market surronding an eating area. the old building its in is gorg. the walls and the ceiling were stunning with light pouring in from all sides. the people that worked there were a little...aggressive. up until this point, all of the service we'd received had been very, very slow (our chilean host told us upon our arrival that chileans are typically very lax and very lazy), at this market though, we had people hounding us at every turn to buy their wares or eat at their tables. oh. and there was a definite smell. ugh.

today i'm hoping to see a little bit of the pool between prepro meetings. deffo necessary. i may be the whitest person in all of chile. on a funny side note, sam (our acd) is SO tanned, i actually mistook him for a local when i arrived! :)

more chilean updates to come...in the meantime, feel free to tell me how much you all miss me ;)

I miss you!!*L*...glad to see you got there safe and sound...surprised that you took a "fish pic"...I KNOW how much you enjoy the fish smell in a restaurant, or fish market, where all is on ice..i can imagine the smell there!!...beautiful pics..can we see some of the smoggy mountains?? xo

you have a holga! thats awesome. shoot chile.

For your holga film, remember not to put it in your luggage. The luggage xray will ruin it (well make it even funnier) but the hand bag xray is okay.

that market sure is purdy.
