tres bon, bon iver.

last night we headed to the sound academy (ugh) for bon iver. and while i was ridiculously excited to see justin and the gang perform, i couldn't help think that a different venue (cough-massey hall-cough) would have been better suited to the music. regardless, we rushed home from work and to the concert venue to stand in what was sure to be a massive line.

when we arrived, nearly an hour early, we were already halfway down the block. hooray for all-ages shows! :) i've never seen so many people. and the sound academy had everyone herded in like cattle. different lines in different gates. have never seen anything like it. also have never seen anyone claim to drop their ticket and practically cry to one of the security guards. was probably one of the funniest things ever. she was at a sold-out show, and was claiming to have lost her ticket. getting in would be some sort of miracle.

inside we waited patiently (and hot and sweatily) for bon iver to take the stage. and in the moment they did - everything else was gone. we no longer cared that it was packed and the drunk couple in front of us kept leaning, transferring their sweat on to us. we no longer cared that we'd been standing for hours, and that we were probably the oldest people in the joint. no. we we mesmerized. by justin and the EIGHT other band memebers on stage. yes, EIGHT. there were horns. there were violins. there were two drummers. and there was love, love, love. bon iver sounded amazing. and while i hate the sound academy, i would probably trek myself back there should they be back there any time soon. i'm pretty sure i can still close my eyes and hear all of the songs all over again.

oh, and for those of you wondering - we saw our little 'i lost my ticket' friend, hop in excitedly just before the show began. clearly miracles do happen!

(apologies for the craptacular photo. unfortunately, all i had on me was my iphone)
