pitch.black.

this is the view from our table at o.noir. when they say you're dining in the dark, they mean it! the whole experience was hilar and so beyond creepy. we were immediately met by a host who escorted us from the front entrance to the lit lounge. along the walk he reminded us that we would be eating in the dark. the complete dark. like pitch black dark. hmm...i wonder how many people have been surprised that it was 'dark' ;). from the lit lounge, we were asked to order our drinks and our meals (while we could still read menus). next up...we were escorted to a door to enter the dining room. here our server, steve, met us and described how we were to enter the room (did i mention steve is blind? all of the wait staff at o.noir are) steve asked that i put my hand on his shoulder and then he would walk us through the dining area and to our table. a few small shuffles, a grope for my chair and we were sitting at our table. and yes indeed, it was pitch.black. it's kind of a bizarre experience, you can feel your eyes keep trying to adjust to the complete darkness, and can kind of convince yourself that you can see light (i was pretty sure that i could see lights above us that chad couldn't, and he was trying to convince me there was light under the door...which i never saw either. needless to say, the dark can play tricks on you).
i don't want to describe the whole experience here, because i really think it's something you should do for yourself (and i don't want to ruin the fun). but i will say that the food was absolutely delish (thankfully the filet mignon arrived pre-cut into bite-size pieces), the service was great, and the dark adventure was full of laughs...and bad jokes. go! go now! but maybe practice by eating your next meal with your eyes closed.
