when life gives you lemons

add some vodka and have yourself a cocktail. you might need one. consider this post a bit of a continuation of the last one. here's the newest concert survival guideline - if you are waiting outside a show and are suddenly told they aren't letting anyone else in (despite the huge line of people still outside the venue), you must be flexible. weigh your options. who else could you be seeing? the answer? two of our favourite bands...who we wrongly were going to dump for a chance to see an international one. lesson learned. always support your local talent. so we left the ting tings line, hailed a cab and headed across town to the indie awards where the midway state and arkells were playing. if you haven't listened to either of these bands, you should. you'll like them. i promise. and if i'm wrong? well...i think i still have a few cherylese pins kicking around.

      

here are a couple of pics from the shows. you'll see my cam actually decided to turn on a few times. small victories. other highlights? we saw 'anvil' play. have you heard of these guys? they were canada's answer to metal back in the day. or so we were told. it was totes crazy. we were all standing up at the stage and then outta nowhere came all these rabid anvil fans - who were in their 40s, and drunk...and crying when the performance was over. i hate to say it, but it was a catchy tune. metal on metal. hilar. they app are the stars of a documentary that was out a little while ago, that has gained them a lot of attention. trailer is below...and...i think i actually might see it. don't mock! admit it, you're a little bit curious too. :)
