jack of all trades

master of none.

this post could just as easily be titled 'excuses, excuses', but i was trying to give it a more positive spin. actually, that's not much more positive at all, is it? i've been taking a lot of heat this last week for being a dabbler. yes, i like to dabble. i dabble in this, i dabble in that. i bumble my way through things, language creation included. thats really how cherylese came to be! i deffo have too many hobbies, and yes, i know, you hate me for them (or so it seems this week ;) ) so here goes. here are all the reasons i suck at maintaining a blog...clearly i only dabble in blog writing too :)

say cheeeeeese

what can i say. i like photography. who doesn't? i'm not always entirely sure what i'm doing, but i guess once in a while i get lucky. i'm known within my group of friends as the 'documenter'. that is, i'm always the one with the camera. here's a smattering of a couple of my favs, you can check out more of my shots on flickr.

music is my boyfriend

i've been called a groupie on more than one occasion - mayhaps i am. i like music and i like live music even more. i see a lot of concerts and shows -from huge arenas to tightly-packed divy bars, high paid acts to indie bands. i heart hearing new music and supporting local talent. sometime in the near future i'll do a post on the music i'm listening to right now and the bands i think you should deffo check out. anyone else listening to something good? send it my way.

of course, as the 'documenter' there are plenty of concert shots at flickr  as well...

when i'm not dragging friends out to shows with me, i might be playing a little show of my own.

okay, not really.

not at all.

the truth is, i do play the guitar, but i totes hate playing for people. maybe, just maybe i'll post something here one day. actually the thought of it makes me want to barf, so probs not. but never say never.

sugar + spice

if i'm not slaving away at my 9-5 (-ish) ad job, babysitting creative teams and placating clients, i'm actually running a pretty successful (again, -ish) cupcake business with my best friend. i honestly don't know how we find the time, but we have a lot of fun doing it. we deffo are the messiest bakers in the history of the world, but the end result usually looks pretty and tastes good.

need 1, 2 or 300 cupcakes? lemme know.

tee for two and two for tee

let's face it. you can't always find the perfect tee. there's always something you might change about what's on it. maybe the colour of the shirt was wrong, maybe it's the perfect palette, but you hate the band on it. this is why i started screen printing shirts. i figured why buy someone else's images on a shirt when i could easily use one of my own. now i can wear anything i want...plus it's kinda fun :)

there you have it. all the things i like to do in my spare time, on top of dreaming up languages and blogging about them. oh. and i make my own christmas cards. for some reason it's this that is the salt in the wound for most people (but if you send me your address, i promise to send you something really pretty...if that helps at all :) )

so if i'm not out taking pictures, seeing a concert, rocking something out on my guitar (ha.ha), or screening a shirt or two, i promise i'll be updating this blog.

(and for those grumpy bears who have a hate-on for me for everything i've listed above...here are some less impressive tidbits about myself: my socks rarely match - on a good day they might be within the same colour palette. i am, so i'm told, a horribly picky eater. i like to sing things that don't necessarily belong in song. i really like the smell of scotch tape, odd but true. i have an insane need to be right all the time, even when i know i'm wrong. and im the person behind you in the 'express: 1-8 items' line secretly counting your basket and giving you the stink eye. i mean, it's not just a suggestion, people! :) of course, i'm open to adding to this list. if i offend or irritate you in anyway, feel free to air it here...consider it free therapy.)

You need to link to online ordering things - like an etsy store for your t-shirts and christmas store.

p.s. I'm going to make a point at commenting on every one of your posts.

liz

you deffo need to elaborate more on the sock issue to make us "totes low lifes, don't have a gazillion hobby" people feel better...not the "the same colour palette" thingy, uhh, doesn't cut it, more like " a mayhaps different aspect of colours and patterns, one has holes, one doesn't" but who cares, they're inside boots, so that's probs okay!!..f to the y to the i...not what I taught you, remember the "mom always told me about the ambulance ride without clean underwear, and mis-matched socks (I'm sure I said the sock thing somewhere in the 18 yrs you were growing up, besides the underwear!!) This is not my foreign tongue, but I enjoy practising it(okay spell check wants to spell it "practicing" - yank version- , but I'm not falling for it!!) new languages, please correct me where I went wrong with Cherylese. *L*...sad to hear you're feeling terribs...hope you feel well soon!! XO

liz

i'll do it - just mayhaps not in the most timely fashion.

cheryl

Hey lady,

Nice blog! It's totes you! I think this is the first time I have ever seen the cup cakes. They are great. I have a new word to add to your vocab complements of me: "Dirt squirel" - a term used to describe a rather promiscuous or trashy person.

Thought you might like that one!
